Weekend Update

It’s been a hot week and a busy week. I’m glad to have an empty calendar today.

Mostly it was hot. Record setting hot. Triple digits for a couple of days and close to it the rest of the time. We’re supposed to have highs in the 90’s all this week too. On top of the heat we had lots of smoke in the air. It blew down here from wildfires in British Columbia. That made for some bad air quality for a few days. It also kept the temps down by a couple of degrees so a bit of a mixed blessing there.

On Monday we finished the longest Kitchen remodel ever. We bought the house new in 1998. The kitchen was all white (cabinets, tile countertops, vinyl on the floor). In 2005 we had the white walls painted a sage green. In 2007 we covered the vinyl floor with a wood colored laminate. This year we finally replaced the dining set we’d had since we moved here. We also got rid of the brass knobs and that awful brass lamp. This week was the final step. We had the tile countertops covered with an engineered granite and I’m so happy with the results.

While I was refreshing things I also got a new laundry room rug to go with the new washer and dryer we got when our 23 year old washer developed a leak. It’s kind of silly how much this makes me smile.

Abby seems to have adopted it.

Hope you’re having a great weekend!
