The Short Version:
Jake Fisher is determined to find his former girlfriend even though she and seemingly everyone else doesn’t want him to.

Why I Read It:
I have been a fan of Harlan Coben since I read his first Myron Bolitar book. It’s been a while since I read one of his so I pulled this off the shelf.

The Book:
From the publisher:

Six years have passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd. So when Jake comes across Todd’s obituary, he can’t keep himself away from the funeral. There he gets the glimpse of Todd’s wife he’s hoping for….

But she is not Natalie.

Soon Jake’s search for the woman who broke his heart puts his very life at risk, as he uncovers the secrets and lies that love can hide….

My Thoughts:
Going into the Bout of Books week I wanted a book that would hold my attention and would be fairly fast paced and a fun read. Fortunately I had this one on my shelf. Harlan Coben is one of my go to authors for this kind of suspense thriller.

Six years after watching Natalie marry someone else and promising to not attempt to make contact Jake is now trying to find out why the man she married is now dead and there is no record of the man’s marriage to Natalie.

In his efforts to find Natalie, Jake gets himself into all kinds of trouble. The cops, some mysterious thugs and people who he knew when he was dating Natalie. The problem is that none of what he’s finding makes sense and it keeps getting more and more dangerous.

That’s all I’m going to say about the story. Is it plausible? Not exactly. Is it a fun read? You bet!.
